Project 101: BASKETBALL AT ITS FINEST, Only in the Philippines
November 14, 2009PART TWO: Where ever you go in the Philippines, to all corners, basketball is everywhere. This has become filipino’s favorite past time. With shoes or none at all even slippers, everybody love to play this game.
You can see youngsters playing even in the noon time. Disregarding the heat of the sun just to be able to play and be with friends. Nothing can stop this boys even some are doing cutting classes and some refuse to go to school just to be able to play this game. This is how basketball influence the filipinos’.
Every community has its park to unwind and this is the perfect place where you can find players. Thou in some places, basketball recieves no support from any public or private officials. Basketball still serves as the venue for this young ones to be able to develop not just the ability to play the game but also the development of the character that every player needs to become the best.
No doubts about it, this game is intended for all ages.
Good players becomes the boss in any basketball court while the one that just started will always be the underdog. “Its better to play tennis because if you dont know how to play the game you will aylways have the chance to recieve and strike the ball, in basketbal, if you dont know how to play the game you dont have the chance to have and recieves the ball.”
When I started playing this game, I am one of those who is just waiting for a friend to say, HE WANTS TO PLAY. All I do is run and run and is always ask to play defense on the strongest player on the other team while the rest of my team mates are doing the best they can to score. It took a year before I was able to play and work on my offense.
I have push myself hard to be able to gain their respect in the aspect of playing the game. I played in different positions in the court until they give me the position for which everybody will love to be on that spot: SHOOTING GUARD. what I do is practice and practice hard, develop my shooting from outside the arc and work on my perimeter shooting as well. The saying that says, Practice makes Perfect, it seems to be true in my part. But before I gained their respect, I have experience to be laugh at and criticized with in the court because I dont know how to play basketball.
But then, this is what motivates me to improve my game. and it did work well for me.
