No Longer a Coach but a Player
September 8, 2009September 6, 2009 - This is the day when I palyed my first game as a HN-SYKES Wolves player.
This is my first real tournament after a long time of coaching and now as a player. The feeling was to different, this time I have to set and prepare my self to meet the expectation of the team. Not like before that I am the one who set the expectations for the team to meet.
Drafted by the defending champion (HN-SYKES Wolves) last August 30, 2009, with the expectation that I would be able to add more option in offense and be able to play defense. Three weeks of rookie camp, playing with the rest of the players who want to be selected, I was able to make it to be one of the prominent aspirant for any available team.
Playing as a shooting guard, they expect me to be the best option from the outside.
With my first game, I scored 4points in 12 minutes of playing time. Thou I was not able to meet the expectation of the team to provide more number in offense, I was able to play good defense. Coming off the bench and playing for the first time after long period of not being able to play good basketball, the challenge is high but then there is always room for improvement.Thou there are lapses, the game was well appreciated for we won by a blow-out of 26 points. Given one week to practice and play for my new team, I am still adjusting to the system and how my teammates plays the game. Motivated to play hard for ” NAA KA SA CHAMPION NGA TEAM” as they always say it, this what drives me to play harder.
Next game will be this sunday, September 13, 2009, against the Devils, I just hope I will be able to bring my “A” game. Start working hard every practice to be able to get back on shape and to be in good condition for the next game to come.
See you next game.
