Our Humble Beginning… X.A.G.E (Extreme Airsoft Game Enthusiasts)
July 24, 2009Once upon a time a group of PROJECT HAND dudes gathered together and started the fad of playing AIRSOFT, these guys headed by Vince Villocino were the first to set the wheels of airsoft in motion. Supporting the head honcho of this fad are Al Ryan Santiago, Banjo Chua and Romuel “Roro” Balintag. These guys started the fad that infected the other project accounts in the workplace.

What these guys don’t know is that the idea of playing AIRSOFT has already germinated into the minds of the PROJECT POPCORN people as well. Dudes, like Philip Adrian Vasquez & Mark Auditor started selling the idea, little did they know that there are other individuals brooding over the thought of organizing an airsoft player’s group, a group that plays airsoft with passion and the drive to play not just for fun but for competition and excellence as well, these individuals would come out be Edzen Bahala, Nikko Alphonsus Demecillo, Mervin Balansag and Fulbert Navarro.

Together, these individuals from 2 different accounts came together to form the first informal group of airsoft players, playing informal games every Saturdays & Sundays when schedule permits from July to August 2007. They formed the core group and the vision of things to come for other agents seeking other forms of sport. These individuals came from different teams. For instance, Roro, Philip & Mark are from NSW-8, Edzen of ASG Davao & Fulbert of team HAS. But for all the brain-storming, the sport would not come into being if not for a newly hired Project POPCORN agent named FULBERT NAVARRO who went on to provide the impetus of forming a team, organizing it with the help of those who share the same passion and finally having it recognized by the COMPANY thru Sykes Involve.
SELLING THE DRAMA:
At this time, active recruiting went in full swing, gun afficionados and those just out of curiosity started joining the weekend games. Here is a sport where you combine BRAWNS & BRAINS, it gets you into shape just by running and avoiding getting HIT. You also get the chance to negotiate some rather challenging terrain, use cover & concealment, lead a group & pit each other’s wits through sound and sometimes crazy tactics. Each individual gets to play his favorite role as an individual soldier or operator. And you get to shoot your favorite gun on moving & thinking targets, things you wouldn’t even think of in real life using real steel. In this sport you get to shoot at & be shot at in return with only a minimal amount of PAIN & still come out smiling and laughing at the end of the game, and at the end of the day. In this sport, you learn how to lead, what Teamwork is, be objective in meeting the goals of a mission & succeed. You also learn endurance, perseverance & camaraderie, in this game you learn to build interpersonal & communication skills and best of all you have pure fun, the kind that you get from an adrenaline rush of completing and leading a successful mission and working as one cohesive fighting unit.

I believe that in this game there are a lot of positives and non-or-less negatives.
