I love the la salle, mapua, and adamson race.
If you see their respective tuition fees, adamson might be 4 to 5 times cheaper than those two, but jeez two spots is not that hard to overtake huh?
go adamsonians.. representatives ng kalaw! wooh
Congratulations to all the universities that made it to the top. Let us all salute ourselves and profess the entire world for such breakthrough that we’ve achieved so far. I perceive that it is not a good idea to argue online which school is performing better than the other. Everyone is entitled to his freedom of expression but it is a better idea to exercise it in a more educated way. We may find it at first a heroic action to fight in behalf of our schools. But in the end, it’ll just lead us all into an unhealthy exchange of harsh words and nonsensical strife. This ranking just made me realize two things. First, that everyone needs everyone to be in the rank. There won’t be no. 1 in the rank if only one is to be ranked; otherwise there will be no ranking at all, right? I mean we all need one another for such a race that we are going through. What matters is that we’ve done our best and exerted much of our efforts for our school to be at the top. Anyway, life is not always being the victor. Sometimes we have to invite people behind us to be ahead of us. Second (more importantly), that it doesn’t matter that much which school where we came from. What matters more is that we’ve achieved something in our lives no matter how big or small it is, and in the end made the people behind those successes proud of us. –Christopher C. Buban (PLM B.S. Chemistry graduate, Advanced Laboratory Center (Dubai) senior chemical analyst)

PNU is now being officially dubbed as NATIONAL UNIVERSITY for TEACHER EDUCATION due to the currently R.A. 9496 which is passed as law, it designates PNU as NATIONAL CENTER for TEACHER EDUCATION and consistently since from then CHED recognizes and designates PNU as CENTER OF EXCELLENCE in Education. Its not about EDUCATION ‘’LANG'’ nag inoofer, courses cannot be possible and jobs also, all of that matter exist because of an essential element ” A TEACHER”. IN ADDITION, Historically, WITHOUT PNU there will be NO UP, PWU and other schools. A set of 1908 PNU GRADUATES establish UP MANILA (the 1st campus and later the diliman). TMay EDUCATION sa UP but still the PNU root influence is more dominating because Francisco Benitez (1ST DEAN of UP College of EDUCATION) is a graduate from Philippine Normal College which is now PNU. In short, PWU, UP and other schools are progeny of PNU. They now exist because of PNU. PNU is obviously recognized in Asia and Globally, so in this TOP 20? Its really questionable, PNU not in the TOP 20 BEST Philippine Universities? Why, do they need to ask more reasons? well, MARAMI PA. ALL OF THE POPULAR UNIVERSITIES In the country particularly in METRO MANILA, has their own product from PNU and surely thankful sila. We are only the NORMAL Institution here! PNU Main Branches are LEYTE and CEBU Normal University, the Satellite Campus are Agusan, Cadiz, Isabela and Quezon. I defend PNU because PNU deserves. Keep the FLAME of the GOLDEN and Blazing TORCH Burning! GO PNUans! The NORMAL Lights (NORMALITES). 108 Years of Excellence!

Posted by dawn at November 12, 2009, 9:52 pmYohooo!! Proud to be a Carolinian Batch 2009 of USC - University of San Carlos, the best university in cebu.
Posted by Carolinians at November 15, 2009, 5:58 pmwe dont care if UP is in the top. It’s their OBLIGATION to be on top.
- i think the validity of this assertion is questionable. UP’s obligation is a moral one, not to be on the top or number one but to train the students to cater to the country’s need.
- you really dont know something about UP. UP trains the students to be wholistic. kaunti lang ang subsob sa pag-aaral.
Good for UP. They are still on top despite the government’s neglect to prioritize education.
It’s UP obligation to be on top? I don’t think so. Most of UP students think that one day, other schools will overtake us. But because they are fighting maroons, they always fight and strive for excellence even if the odds are not in their favor.
“Yung mga nasa UP ngayon, sana hinde totoo na para sa mayayaman at sa may koneksyon na lang ang UP. Sana mapatunayan pa rin na ang UP ay para sa matatalino at para sa mga kabataan na nagnanais na gamitin ang binigay sa kanyang talino para iangat ang kalagayan ng bansa natin.”
Also, praises should also be given to the other SCU’s who made it to the list. They also experience the same problem but still they made the cut.

Posted by Hokahe at December 8, 2009, 11:36 pmUP IS THE UNDISPUTED NUMBER 1 SCHOOL IN THE PHILIPPINES. That is not subject to debate. It is also undisputable that it lags behind many other universities in asia and the world, the rankings would show that. However, it is not the school’s fault that it is trailing. If we take a look at the criteria for ranking, it clearly favors schools with very large resources (many times over the current budget of UP) because it includes teacher-to-student ratio, broadband allocation, research budget, selectivity and many more indices. With government’s lack of financial allocation, it is no wonder that UP does not figure out in the top international schools. UP has the best minds but that is not enough for ranking purposes. Budget is…
Kaya’t huwag nang maliitin ang UP. Talagang magaling yan.
Posted by ruji at December 19, 2009, 2:57 amAnd by the way, go go SILLIMAN UNIVERSITY! Kita nyo naman na hindi kailangang mag-ingay to become a top university in the country. Here is an example of a school that is keeping a low profile and yet is doing its share of producing some of the country’s best minds and the most God-fearing professionals.
So study in Silliman University to get the best Christian education in the City of Gentle People (Dumaguete City). Compared with Metro Manila schools, the tuition fee is a steal so you are sure to get your money’s worth. It is a decision you will never regret…
Posted by ruji at December 19, 2009, 3:08 amSige magpataasan kayo ng ihi mga batang musmos. Sigurado ba kayong college students kayo?
Hmmm.
May iba’t iba silang programang ino-offer at kanya-kanya estado.
Posted by iskolarngbayan at December 20, 2009, 2:38 pmTo me, UP is just a small fish in a SMALL basin. UPD might be the best in Manila, but not for the whole country. I did not graduate in UP but i landed a good job. Maybe If I studied in that school, i may not have a job today because, UP is not the same from the school where i garduated that molded me to be a good person. Do not compare UP to my school because definitely, my alma matter does not have the same circumstances, intelligent and conditions. I think UP is more popular because they are mold to be anti-government, thats why we often see them rallying in the street shouting bad words to the people behind the government which are often than not a graduates from UP just the same.
Posted by freddy M,. Baguilat at December 22, 2009, 10:45 ami think this data is wrong CHED only releases the rankings once in every 5 years. Last release was 2005. Next release will be in 2010. Eto ung ranking nung 2005 (SY 1999-2005):
1. University of the Philipines-Diliman
2. University of Santo Tomas
3. Saint Louis University, Baguio City
4. University of the Philippines-Los Banos
5. Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan)
6. Ateneo de Davao University
7. Ateneo de Manila University
8. Silliman University
9. University of San Carlos
10. Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Tech
11. University of the Philippines-Manila
12. De La Salle University-Manila
13. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
14. University of the Cordilleras(Formerly Baguio Colleges Foundation)
15. University of Negros Occidental-Recolectos
16. Mindanao State University-Gen Santos City
17. Polytechnic University of the Philippines
18. Mapua Institute of Technology
19. Central Mindanao University
20. Adamson University
i think hndi pala macoconfirm ung mga statistics. I searched the google again and iba-ibang rankings ang lumalabas mostly from bloggers/forums which are not verified by an official link.
Posted by Le Fleur at December 26, 2009, 7:31 pmBasing on this statistic presented, it shows that more schools outside Manila are doing good than those big universities in the NCR . To me, this is an indication that Manila is no longer conducieve for learning. With all the nasty, filthiness, and everybad things it has, an ordinary people would certainly do not like to spend his/her life into it.
Education is important in our life, but to stay in Manila just to study in UPD is not worth it at all. I still prefer to study in Baguio City because the environment there is very good, and people are friendly. If only SLU will expand its campuses to accommodate more students from other places, certainly time will come that SLU will be the biggest school in the Philippines.
SLU is the best school in the North and number 3 all over the country, meaning it’s just a two steps away and it will be the best school in the Philippines. The pioneer schools located in Manila who use to be in the top list will soon be forgotten.
i think u should put philippine science high there, they are one of the best respected schools for high school.
Posted by denden dadiz at January 7, 2010, 9:01 am2007 pa po yang list na yan.
Posted by avien at January 7, 2010, 10:14 pmi believe there is something wrong with the data posted by that study removing University of the Cordilleras from no. 14 to none at all? Urios University ang papalit, when did this university excel? as against UC in 2008- 2 first placers in the sanitary engineering, still the top criminology schools for the last 24 years with 5 topnotchers in 2008,2009 and above 90% passing rate? UC was 2nd place in the accountancy board exam in 2008 with 67 % passing rate? what about Urious? 85% and 80% respectively in the LET board exam 2009? at least ranked 22 in the 100 examinees for nursing and no 5 in more than 500 examinees in the nursing examination? what about Urious, ha ha ha nakakatawa iyan, kapitbahay lang namin ang PRC at ala naman silang listahan na Urios nga ay pinalitan ang University of the Cordilleras sa no. 14 position?

Posted by john at January 18, 2010, 11:10 amYou are correct John. Its not the school that matters. I graduated in a public Highschool and my close friends went to UPD while I opted to stay in Baguio and study in a private school. We actually passed the UPCAT but because of personal reason i didn’t go UPD. I ‘m doing good here in my school as my friends are in their school.
I’m hoping that after college i can find a job that i want best. One of my friend really want to become a nurse someday but she is taking up economics at UPD. Her reason, i don’t know. She only told me that she just want to study in that school called UPD.

Posted by saisy at February 1, 2010, 11:37 amYOu want my opinion????? What is UP any compared to ADMU, SLU or DLSU and UST. If we go world wide to Harvard, oxford, Cambridge, National school of Singapore and a lot more. If there’s a school that i should respect it would definitely not UP. Why? simple I don’t like to be UPians, its not my dream at all. Sorry, but i just want to be honest with my self. I have nothing to brag and that might be my only asset. Thank you.
Top madscuence, why don’t you prove then that you are better than the rest. What do you think you have that other don’t have.? I think fredy is correct that UP is just a small fish in a small basin.. if you know what it means. . . . .

Okay! As you’ve said iba iba ang takbo ng isip ng mga tao. That’s why you have no right to comment on our opinion. And you should know that there are a lot of people who do not wish to study at UPD maybe because it’s not worth doing so. If i know, we have some friends there in your minamahal na school studying for 10 years but until now they never graduated because they often failed in their 5 units subjects every semester yet they are still there studying. You know in other schools, you will not be accepted to enroll for the next semester if you incurred 3 failures in one sem.
Posted by teeranus at February 2, 2010, 3:55 pm@Saisy: Wag mo ngang ibida ang school mo dito.Paepek ka pa na gusto mo sa Baguio or what. So what kung ang environment sa Baguio/SLU e maganda. Wag kang kapuri sa school mo okay?
“I have nothing to brag”?Haha.
Ulit ulit kayo e…
Posted by madscience at February 8, 2010, 1:53 pmDon’t feel bad that we really don’t give a damn to your school. We can find more schools in our own surrounding that are far better than your school. If you believed that UP is the only school for you, then uphold it. We don’t care anyway.
But i want you to know that wala ka pang na-eproved manlang to us that UP is really a good school, Hehe. I’m very sorry to say this that honestly, your points here is inconsistent. I understant though that this inconsistencies reflect much of the quality of education you have.
What do you mean by Ulit ulit kayo e. Madscience I hope you die defending your school. Hahahahahahahahaha. Next time impress me

It’s our personal choice.

To be honest with you, I think it would be better if you just shut off your mouth because the more you talk the more you put your own self in a laughing stock. It’s my first time to encounter a person such as you who claimed to be what yet you aren’t. I really pity you nasty fella. I beleive there are a lot of a more civil people here whom we can exchange our own ideas and opinions. A people who knows how to respect the opinions of others under any circumstances it would be. We don’t need here a savaged, pretensious, trying hard, hyprocrites person whose purpose is just to let others recognize him as the best. Yeah, we know how to appreciate others achievements and respect to any one who deserved it. Sad to say however, that you don’t deserve any respect at all. We’re just being honest to ourself. I hope you would understand us.
THanks.
Ok fine Som…
Haha. Kakahiya! Mangiinsulto na lang, mali pa grammar.Wag kang trying hard okay?
You know we really can’t understand person like you. Bayot nga bading pa bungagnira pa. Your deserve to be in your beloved school because accordingly a lot of people there are just like you. BUNGANGIRAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Mahiya ka naman sa sarili mo. As i said, we don’t need your opinion here. Iba kasi ang mundo mo. Nasa himpapawid. Wag kang trying to join us here. Sorry heheh but i mean it.

Basa ka ulit ha,ung parts of speech — ayusin mo!
Hahahahaha!!!
Wow! I’m really impressed, or rather appalled by what I’ve read here. I think all the schools posted here or not deserve to be respected. Anyway, I believe that any school is only as good as it’s students. So who’s the best? That’s up to you guys to prove. Not by intellect alone, but by character as well. Clearly, the kind of attitude that we show reflects what our school taught us. In the real world, attitude still weighs more than the name of the school we graduated from. When you die, would you have the name of your school placed on your tombstone? or do you think people will remember you because you went to a good school? I don’t think so. All this talk is just so nauseating. But it was a good read, nevertheless.

..i wonder wat makes the urios college (now a university) be on the top universities..hmmp..lafing stuck man yan dito sa CARAGA Region.. mahal ang tuition, di naman quality..
Posted by hehe at March 9, 2010, 1:17 pmCHED is only basing this list on board exams statistics. Great schools like UP, Ateneo, and DLSU have programs in business, economics, management, and social sciences na walang board exams. These three are no doubt the best universities in the country. Other schools are also great for specific areas. MSU-IIT is good in engineering for example. Siliman in literature, among others. UST and UP Manila in medical sciences, and UST in architecture and other fields in engineering. Even SLU have some, but not all, good engineering programs.
As for the other universities naman, na sobrang active sa mga forums and threads like this, pang board exam lang ang standard. They may claim 60% passing rate, pero ung 40% pala ay hundreds of students kasi 1,000 ung graduates. Sobrang dami. Kahit English at personal skills problematic. Proud pa sila kasi daw sa mura ng tuition nila, they’re better than the Top 3 schools hahaha! Gising uy!

UP System is just one. Iba iba lang ang lugar ng mga campuses at specialty, of course, magaling tlga mga taga-diliman kasi nsa kanila ang mga nag-top sa UPCAT, ryt? kahit anong campus pa ng UP yan, still we are receiving UP education at UP pa rin ang name ng skul namin. May oble sa lahat ng campus. Go UP System! Still the best.

i agree, pick a random graduate from UP/ateneo/DLSU, and chances are kahit di masyado matalino, sobrang successful sa career. sa PUP, sobrang naka highlight ang mga naging successful, when in fact 0.0001% lang un ng population nila.
PUP, stop fooling yourself. pang cheap tuition lang kayo. kalevel nyo TIP at AMA, okay?
what? ADMU ranks lower than UPLB and ADDU? I guess that would not be reasonable anymore, obviously, it is wrong.
